My name is Ram Rau.I am a physician aged 54 from Chennai(aka Madras) in Southern India. I came across your website quite by chance while looking for information regarding England.Your site is terrific and the photos exquisite. I was in England from late 1990 to 1996 while I worked in the NHS. I lived in Winchester,Carisbrooke(IOW),Lancaster,Wigan and Ashton-in-Makerfield.

Your fantatic pictures evoke many fond memories of the beautiful countryside and lovely towns and villages I visited. Images of golden brown wheatfields with splashes of red poppy,of bright yellow rapeseed fields,of daffodils by the roadside,of a carpet of bluebells ,of cherry blossoms,of meadows and lakes and streams are all etched in my mind.My favourite season was autumn;the collage of different colours - green, yellow, russet, red and brown - was truly breathtaking.

I can also recall happy moments spent in different activities - punting on the Lancaster canal going round in circles(it was harder than it first seemed)much to the amusement of onlookers, tearing across Lake Windermere in a speedboat(it had a top speed of 7 mph!!),sitting at the waterersedge in Alum Bay with only the salty wind and the seagulls for company(and of course the inevitable pint of warm beer),watching a production of Hamlet late at night in Mottisfont abbey, playing a cricket match in Twyford village. My stay was made more memorable by the wonderful people I worked with and the great friendships I struck up.Your website reminds me how incredibly beautiful England is!Many thanks! God Bless You All.
