I think I might know the answer to that question. Bringing my 84 yr young Mother to visit her 87 yr young brother one last time. I myself have never been to England and looking forward to seeing where my mother grew up. Aside from all the regular sightseeing hotspots in London...anyone have any suggestions what to experience while in England. We hope to see some other Countries, Ireland, Scotland etc. Also any suggestions as to which is more reasonably priced method of lodgings? B&B, hotels, holiday cottages? Any particular bus tours that can be suggested. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Laurie...:0) |

You say you only have two weeks in England and presumably will be staying with or near your Uncle for a while. It might be a good idea to plan trips from wherever he stays and if you say where that is it would help get the best advice. I think it is possible that you might be hoping to cram in too much for a two week visit. But I am sure the POE members will give you lots of ideas. You can look at lots of accommodation options here on POE, it will give you prices as well (top left hand side column in the green box!) and if it is booked via the POE site you will get a very good price. Whatever you decide to do I wish you a wonderful and memorable holiday in England. |

We won't be staying with him as he lives in a type of supportive housing. The idea is to have a short visit with him first, then start the sightseeing throughout the 2 weeks and end off the trip seeing him before we leave. So I would say approximately 90% of the 2 weeks will be touring and sightseeing. :0) |

Wokingham is a few miles from where I live, to the east. Will you be driving around? May weather is changable so could be anything. West along the M4 corridor takes you into Witlshire and the Cotswolds. South down the M3/M27 into Hampshire and the New Forest region. Northwards of Reading/Maidenhead you'll see the M40 running through Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire; you can see many of the villages the M40 runs near on my Midsomer Murders tour. http://www.picturesofengland.com/user/Wahian/tour/Midsomer_Murders_County_Tour Spent my last 2 years of high school in Winnipeg at John Taylor Collegiate; lived on Cavalier Drive and then later off Ness Ave. close to the runway's end. |

As CathyML has suggested above there are loads of great deals available by booking through this website. Furthermore you will get your accommodation cheaper than by going direct to the hotels. Save loads of money and support POE by doing so! Click on the following link and look for your locations, easy... |

For what it's worth, I visited England in mid-May (way back in 2004), and the weather was glorious! It only rained one day, and we were bothered by that. In fact, it seemed appropriate as we were touring Warwick Castle that day. The rain just added to the atmosphere. I also visited in September (2007) and again it only rained one day that I can recall, and the weather was warm and lovely. |
