I took up amateur photography about 12 months ago and am working my way round Dorset with my Sony in hand. It is good to have found a site where I can show some of my pictures and hopefully get some comments (positive or negative) from other more experienced photographers. |

Thanks for adding your pics of Tyneham, it is sad to see the derelict buildings though and wondered why they were left. I do hope you will consider becoming a Premier Member of POE. |

In answer to your query about why the buildings were abandoned, during the second world war the MoD (who have a firing range nearby) requested that all the villagers leave the village so that they could carry out practice sessions and no-one has ever returned. It is certainly a fascinating place and set in beautiful countryside. Richard

Perfectly good homes abandoned because of a the need for a firing range. I would have thought the MOD would have repaired the homes in that beautiful setting and not left them to rot when there was no longer a need for the range. |

Our last vacation to England was 2 years ago and we stayed in a lovely little B&B near West Moors and Three Legged Cross. We spent a lovely Sunday afternoon in Wimborne Minster and had roast at the Coach and Horses. It's Heaven around those parts. Looking forward to seeing more of your pictures of the area.
