A village street in Aldbourne
"Many congratulations on your efforts to document so many villages. I have enjoyed looking through your websites. You have some excellent photographs but sadly quite a few suffer from heavy shadows hiding detail. Our eyes have a much larger dynamic range than cameras but this can be improved either in camera or with editing software such as photoshop. Unfortunately the cameras you have used do not appear to have such a facility so I would recommend you invest in photoshop or the like. I feel sure this would greatly improve your shots and match the undoubted efforts in documenting each village." - Paul V. A. Johnson(6th September 2020)

Saltaire village
"Thank you for the explanation, Paul, I was sure the name must have had an innocent origin. It is a nice example of how an innocent street name can be misconstrued in modern parlance. There are many other examples of old English street names with dubious modern connotations, though I would not dare suggest this as a new picture category. BTW, the sharp rendering of the street sign confirms the quality of your Nikon kit." - Edward Lever(3rd September 2020)

Saltaire village
"In fact Edward Sir Titus named most of the streets after his family. This particular street was named after one of his daughters." - Paul V. A. Johnson(3rd September 2020)

Saltaire village
"I am reluctant to make this observation, but I see that this shot includes a street sign of a certain bawdy notoriety (the street-sign is near the right-hand edge of the frame and about half way up). Whether this street name had the approval or cognisance of Sir Titus Salt is a matter of conjecture." - Edward Lever(2nd September 2020)
