Needle Point sculpture, Worcester The Needle Point sculpture was designed by Paul Juillerat as a symbol of the needle-making industry for which Worcester and Redditch were renowned. A relief of King John, Worcester This relief of King John (1166-1216) is executed in black-pigmented ciment fondu and set in buff-coloured plaster in Copenhagen Street, Worcester. The crowned figure is mounted on a prancing horse and turns toward his right hand upon which is perched a falcon. The horse and rider are framed by a curved representation of forest foliage. William Colton: South African War Memorial, Worcester The larger than life size, bronze work depicts the figure of a soldier of the Worcestershire Regiment with rifle, in 'ready' position, with a winged figure of Victory behind holding a laurel wreath. Guildhall, Worcester Designed by Thomas White in the Queen Anne style, the Guildhall was completed in 1723. King Charles III described the assembly room as ‘a handsome gallery’ when he visited it in August 1788. Sir Winston Churchill was presented with the Freedom of the City of Worcester at the Guildhall on 20 May 1950. Worcester Severn Bridge with canal narrowboat Designed by John Gwynn, a Shrewsbury architect, it was completed in 1781. By the start of the 20th century, it was clear that the bridge could no longer cope with increased levels of traffic, so, on the 24th April 1931, full reconstruction and widening of the bridge began which was completed on 28 October 1932. The narrowboat has probably joined the river at Diglis lock from the Worcester and Birmingham canal.
