Manor Cottage Hampton Gay Oxfordshire The right hand of this building is the restored original cottage. A mirror image extension was added to double the size of the cottage. Unseen form the front is the below ground extension providing a huge kitchen diner which is almost secretly built into the rolling grounds which sweep down to the river. The kitchen has a small glass pyramid roof light and a broad expanse of windows looking over the river and the island which forms part of the grounds. A beautiful and unique property. The Cottages at Hampton Gay, Oxfordshire Hampton Gay is a hamlet of 1 farm, 2 terraced cottages, and a detached cottage which has been extensively and tastefully extended. In an adjacent field lies the ruins of an Elizabethan Manor and nearby is a lovely little church which is still in use despite its isolated and rural location. The Church at Hampton Gay Oxfordshire This lovely old Church is in regular use despite being in a very remote location and in the middle of a field. The Christmas Service is particularly brilliant and very moving. The Church is devoid of electricity and heating. The service is held in candle light and generally, because of the cold, the breath of the singers appears as if on a frosty day. The positioning of candles on the pews means you have to take care not to set fire to the long hair of some of the congregation in the pew in front!
