Otterton's best view

It's a bit of a climb to see the best view in Otterton, but well worth the effort. The road up to the view used to go over the hill into Sidmouth but in the late 18 hundreds a landslide took the road away. Now the road stops at the fantastic view over Sidmouth and Beer, but a path goes onwards for walkers.

Otterton Bridge

The road bridge from Otterton crosses the River Otter and then crosses over the old redundant railway link from Honiton to Exmouth via Budleigh Salterton before turning left and right towards East Budleigh.

Hungry gull in Otterton

We went for a meal at an Otterton Pub and, on the way in, this peckish gull was just finising his first course asking "what's for afters?"

Otterton Mill

We walk our dog quite frequently from Budleigh to Otterton by using the path by the side of the River Otter. We also call into the Otterton Mill for a scone and coffee before returning by Frogmore Road.

View from Bar's Lane

A footpath from Otterton takes you to High Peak and on to Sidmouth. Along this way is this scene which I call "A tyred corner of East Devon."

Park Lane gateposts

On the way from Otterton to Budleigh, if you go by Park Lane, you will pass between these gateposts where a park used to be. It's long gone now though.

Otterton cobwebs

Otterton Mill has an outside eatery. Look up to see the gutters, especially when it drizzles, and you may see cobwebs picked out.

View from Frogmore Road

The small road that runs by the side of the River Otter from Otterton to East Budleigh is called Frogmore Road and this is a pleasant blue and green view from it.

Otterton Church

St. Michael and All Saints is the church of Otterton and has recently been fitted with new doors. The pair of glass doors read "Let the Heavens Rejoice" on entering and "Let the Earth be Glad" as you leave. They also are engraved with Angel Wings.
