Derwentwater scupture This 'bench or seat' call it what you will is to be found on the western shores of Derwentwater somewhere in the vicinity of Otterbield Bay. It is carved out a single tree trunk and is just one of several similar sculpted works around the lakeside This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Derwentwater gate This gate at Old Brandlehow on the western side of Derwentwater relies on a very technical closure system. A heavy rock fastened to a length of chain! Open the gate and the weight of the rock ensures it closes again, very simple. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Derwentwater scupture 2 Another of the Derwentwater sculptures. This one being a giant hand which, similar to the bench, seems to be hewn from a single lump of tree! Unfortunately the family in the shot wanted to play around it for some time so I was unable to get close enough to get any reasonable images. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |

Tree on Derwentwater Not much more English than this beautiful and very healthy tree in a field close to Otterbield Bay on the eastern side of Derwentwater on route from Hawes End to Brandlehow This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Hawes End Jetty Lady Derwentwater still alighting passengers almost 5 minutes after we got off at Hawes End on the western shore of Derwentwater. Some going north to Portinscale, some hardier ones going off to make the ascent of Catbells and some heading south towards Brandlehow. We were going all the way past Brandlehow round the bottom of Derwentwater and back up the eastern shore back to the landing stages at Keswick on a very hot and sunny day! This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Derwentwater boat repairs Not everyone at Derwentwater is on holiday. The boats need repairs from time to time This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Catbells Getting closer to Catbells now and you see the severity of the climb up the northern 'slopes' of Catbells. Once at the top of this lump there is still plenty of trekking to do to get to the very top. Have looked at doing this twice this year but each time realized I need a few more miles under my boots and a greater degree of fitness. A few less years on the clock would also be helpful! This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Catbells Different passengers have different ideas of what they want to look at, but Catbells is the view for me! This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Catbells On board Lady Derwentwater on route to Hawes End with the magnificent Catbells looming ahead. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
