Derwentwater Isle This is a private inhabited island on Derwentwater. Catbells from one window, down the lake to Borrowdale from another, north towards Skiddaw from another. Magnificent scenery everywhere they look. What a place! This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Derwentwater owl This lovely carved owl again with the northern shores as backdrop with the slopes Skiddaw in the distance This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Towards Borrowdale Standing on the pier at Keswick looking south down Derwentwater towards Borrowdale This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Lady Derwentwater One of the Keswick Cruise launches waiting to make a round the lake trip. Takes about 50 minutes with 5 or 6 stops. You can get off at any one and get the next boat or, like we did, just take a short trip across the lake and walk down one side and round the bottom of the lake and back to up the other side to the piers....well worth doing. Into Borrowdale Long lens view down Derwentwater into the 'Jaws of Borrowdale' This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Carving at Derwentwater piers The main pier at Keswick has been widened over the last few months. And someone has put a fair bit of time and effort into this little chap on top of one of the stanchions. You can see him on the pic of Lady Derwentwater. Needless to say I took more than 2 or 3 so another may crop up sometime. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Catbells The northern slopes of Catbells very much foreshortened by the equivalent of around 200mm. What you see here is not the summit, that is still quite a hike further on and upwards! As Martin inferred on a previous image, must be amongst one of the most photographed sights in the Lake District, probably because of the ease of access to view. The Jaws of Borrowdale Looking south down Derwentwater from the Friars Crag area towards the very aptly named Jaws of Borrowdale which eventually lead over the Honister pass to Buttermere. If you can see what looks like a hand rising out of the water you are quite correct. A brave young lady was getting in some open water swimming training, fully wet-suited I hasten to add, as the water was quite cold from the melt waters running in from the fells. Keswick Launches Boarding for the next round lake cruise with the Keswick Launch company for the 50 minute trip. You can get off at any of the 4 or 5 stops for a wander round and then catch the next available boat to carry on. Or if you so desire walk along the lakeside to the next stop and catch the next boat This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Keswick Landings Bank Holiday Monday May 6th. Keswick Launch area just after lunch. Bit brighter and warmer than earlier in the day.. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Derwentwater rowing boats No apologies for more boats, they just cry out to be photographed. The landing stage behind is currently being rebuilt, twice the width of the others. Presumably they will be widened in the future. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Derwentwater landing stages The Keswick Launch boarding area at Keswick with the western slopes of Skiddaw in the background. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Friars Crag, Derwentwater The very popular Friars Crag a few hundred yards south of the boat jetties at Keswick. As you can see the day did improve and just proves that it doesn't ALWAYS rain when I go to the Lakes.....just quite often! This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Drewentwater sheep, again A mother and babies although I don't think they were all hers, but they do look very comfortable with her. Don't often hear of a sheep having 4 lambs This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Derwentwater SUNDAY LUNCH We're two little lambs that have lost our way! This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D 2 people have added this picture to their favourites |
Derwentwater Goose Heard a noise behind me, turned round, saw this goose hurtling towards me and just pointed followed and pressed and hoped for the best. Normally have the camera set continuous shooting but for some unknown reason was on single shot, so very lucky I got anything at all This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Derwentwater feeding time Just time for a quick feed before going out to play again. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Catbells 3 Another view of the magnificent slopes of Catbells. Debated whether to leave the grassy foreground in or not, what do you think? This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Catbells again Another view of Catbells, this time from underneath Friars Crag which is just visible on the right of the shot and way down to the left what is known as 'The Jaws of Borrowdale' This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D 1 person has added this picture to their favourites |
Catbells over Derwentwater Catbells as sen from the Eastern shore of Derwentwater not far from the pleasure boat landing stages. About 3-4 hours after the earlier grim images were taken. And the day was beginning to brighten up quite nicely This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
