A picture of Filey Phew, how many more steps? The building at the top of these steps, that lead up from the Coble Landing to Queen Street, is the old coast guard lookout. It is now a private house and had the top storey substantially reduced around 40 years ago and originally stood much taller than it presently is. Queen Street was originally the main shopping street in the old town of Filey, before the construction of the Crescent and 'new Filey' took place in the mid 1800's This picture appears in the following picture tour: |

A picture of Filey The North Fountain at the derelict holiday park, that was once known as 'Filey Butlin's'. The park has been derelict for around twenty years and the fountains are some of the few remaining remnants of a holiday camp that catered for thousands of happy holidays and created millions of lifelong memories. Should we have preserved one of these fountains? Surely Butlins was just as much part of our heritage, as anything else historical. We just don't realise it yet. The camp was finally cleared completely in 2002. This picture appears in the following picture tour: |
