OMG!!! When I was over in '98 I had to visit Butser Ancient Farm as part of some extra credit for my archaeology course & Peter Reynolds who was the director of it at the time drove me back to Petersfield station via Buriton! He showed me a house that's built on the site of an old Roman piggery it was up on the left before the church coming in from the A3. So I remember Buriton Laughing

We stayed in a B&B in Four Marks and had to travel through Alton quite a bit, (I don't drive).

It's quite a while since I visited Buriton, more's the pity. I moved to Yorkshire in 1996 and I can't recall whether I've revisited there or not.  It reminds me that I must get back there, just to see if it has changed at all. It's a small world Jen!

I sometimes get freight that goes to Alton...I think I'll take the next consignment myself, it'll give me the opportunity to rediscover Buriton. While I'm there I might just have a little look at Petersfield lake too, I remember it well. Memories!

I have two favourite places I love to visit, and would love to move to one of them one day.

Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and Kingston-Upon-Hull are wonderful places to visit.

Great nightlife and cracking scenery!

Lol, thank you and hi!

Someone else on this site said my hair looks blue but it's actually dark brown on the picture, maybe the sun makes it look blue.

Never had blue hair so don't know why it looks it.

Lol.

Thanks for the welcoming anyway! Cool

I can only answer to that with a tourist's eyes though; blank boards with no memories of the past and with a vision on the present only, and that makes any selection particularly hard whenever it comes to such a large amount of beauties.

But locals (and ex-locals) can rely on the power of memories too, and whose colours, sounds and scents are able to trigger links and associations for them that  see beyond the mere, actual look or state of a place.

I know how that feels like and maybe for that , I'm a bit jealous too :).

Ciao,

MG

My sentiments exactly, Maria.  I wasn't going to post here because I've had 10 whole days in England my whole life!  lol.  That's why this website is so addicting.  Apart from 3 days in London, we spent our time in N. Yorkshire, and I loved every square foot of it.  The area around Bolton Abbey is amazing, as is the town of Whitby.  I guess you, I and a few others are going to have to live vicariously thru POE for a while, eh?  As Ron says, the Power of POE!!
