It is true, I saw it on one of them "strange but true" programs on TV. Cant remeber the names, just the facts mam.

If wikipedia says so and Pete has seen a documentary then it must be true....I only ever read what our local paper said about the sauce's origins....it seems about right for the time though...remember the Brontes who had to disguise themselves with masculine-sounding names so as to not outrage society.

There you are then. So that's the mystery solved.  Now can you tell me what beans are used in 'baked' beans and where did they originate. Not easy this one.

I've made my own baked beans using several different types of bean, but I've mostly used what is called Navy Beans over here. 

I've no idea what beans Heinz uses..

Haricot beans are used and orignated by Henry J Heinz of Pittsburgh, Philadelphia USA.
