I wear a small golliwog badge on my biking jacket. I've had it since I was about 14. The Golli is riding a motorbike. I wore it as a biker gal back in the good old days of the 1980's, and I wear it now.  I will never get rid of it, it's my lucky charm.

shirley, people arent born racist, you just have to watch very young kids from a multi national school playing together to see that..As they grow older and start listening to racist adults they themselves become racist. You are so right Michael I have several black friends that are like family but we have such a problem down here with the black community always yelling racist over ever thing so they can get there way and  there are several blacks like my friends who are even sick of it its just degrating to them to try to pull the race card instead of standing up for rights no matter what color you are.

I think you have a valid point there debbie, it hapens here in the uk also, it seems the coloured/black people appear to play the race card whenever they want attention. I recently went into the local Citizens advice Centre (CAB) which is a national based 'help' centre that offers free advice to the public. I was 'shocked' to see the walls full of posters offering advice and help in every language possible aimed at the 'immigrant' population. the first thing they asked me was not what they could do for me, but what my National Insurance number was.

(A national insurance number is the number given to you when your parents register your birth in the UK),

When you start employment (which I did in 1964) a token fixed sum is taken from your pay at source to help pay for your (and others) medical bills and benefits and its this number that itentifies you on the national computor. need I say that there are many fake NI numbers out there, bought from illegal suppliers for a small sum.

I felt like i was the 'foriegner' in my own country and I'm definatly not racist.

I know what you mean Michael, here they sell there babies social security numbers so they can each get back money from there taxes each year! and I know its not just blacks that do it but the majority is and they keep having babies to get medicade to pay all medical bills for them so they can stay home and draw there unemployment and child care checks and it will keep getting worse until the goverment makes changes, I heard that they may start doing drug test on ppl who draw unemployment checks to make sure they are not using those checks for drugs which would be a good first step!

I guess your national insurance number is the same as our social security number??

I still have a book I had as a child called 'Little Black Sambo.'

Does anyone else remember these?

I expect they have had to stop making them now!

Rose.
