Hi Sue.

In my garden this morning I saw a Yellow Wagtail.  This is only the second one i have seen, the last one was in 1982 and that was in the Lake District.

Regards Roy J.

Wow! Ron that's a great sighting, they seem so hard to find nowadays.

Last year, the day after the big rain in the midlands, I saw one in a field enjoying all the water. Lovely birds.

Sue. This is ROY not RON. I know that you don't know what i look like but that is no excuse. I have tried to put an image onto these threads but it did not work.  However, remember 'Hitchcock'!!!

Regards RoY J.

Sorry Roy. I am sure Ron will get a kick out of it though, and I await some sarcastic remark.

As for your picture, I am sure POE can help you out. It would be fun to 'see' you.

P.P.S. We had a Red-tailed Hawk circling our house (the estate) today. The sun was shining (briefly) and his tail looked so bright. The Red-tail is allot like your Buzzard.

Saw a red kite on my way home from the south yesterday, just south of Retford. They seem to be getting more numerous....in fact there is a mating pair only a couple of miles from where I live. We've had a pair of goldfinches in the garden this morning, they seem to be preferring the sunflower hearts to the nyger seed at the moment, very strange!

Last year on my trips to England I got to watch a nesting pair of Red Kite 'down the lane' in my favourite part of Wheatley. I would go up there early, around five, when it was still pretty dark, and watch them as they started their morning ritual. It was fascinating.

What no retaliation Sue, or did you miss it? As for the Red Kite, we have lots around the Wheatley area now including up and down the M40 but amazingly the crows, or jackdaws actually fight with them. They just won't leave them alone, but wouldn't you think it would be the other way around, although we know the Red Kite is not a bird of prey, rather it's a scavenger picking up the tyre flats on the roads, oh and the cats Diana!
