Hi Friends,  I had this conversation with someone at work the other day and thought it might be a fun topic to throw out to all of you.

If you could spend one evening with a person or persons be they living or dead who would you choose to spend the time with?

 My choices would be:

Mark Twain – Because I think he was an incredibly interesting, and genuine character.  I imagine an evening in his company would be like plugging into a live wire!

Karen Blixen (aka Isak Dinesen) – I admire her spirit and courage.  At a time when women were typically kept at home and not allowed lives in their own right, she traveled to Africa and lived an extraordinary life.

C.S. Lewis – What an amazing human being.  His faith was inspiring to me, and I am not just talking about his many publications.  His faith guided him and was demonstrated in the way he lived his life.  He was a man who suffered much, yet maintained his dignity right to the end.

John F. Kennedy – A man of privilege to be sure, yet I believe he felt that his wealth and position obligated him to help those less fortunate, to fight for the common people.  While I may not have agreed with how he conducted his personal life, I still think that he was a great man, with great ideas; a life cut tragically short.

Cary Grant – Although on the surface he was the “heart-throb” of his time, I believe he was also a very genuine person who cared for others and spent his life trying to help where he could. Also, he was just plain gorgeous!

The above are brief explanations about what draws me to each of these people, however, I could write a full page on each of them!

Okay, now it’s your turn!

What a fun question. I will have to put some thought into my full answer, but my mind immediately went to Orlando Bloom    . I may be old enough to be his mother but I'm betting he's one young pup worth a few hours of my time.

A more serious answer will come in a while

I can't think of anyone famous at the moment, but when we were over there, visiting the great cathedrals and abbeys, I found myself touching a stone and wondering what the person's life was like who cut that stone, the laborers who transported it, the masons who placed it and their families.  Not a lot of names associated with all those 11th and 12th century building projects, but a lot of labor and creativity, among what I imagine to be a pretty hard life.

I do the exact same thing Ruth.

All those unsung heroes, right down to the lowest paid (if paid at all). And I always thank them too.

I find that when I am walking through a grave yard I'll look at all the markers and wonder, "What were you like? Who were you? What did you love and hate? Was your life happy or sad? etc, etc.

I can definitely relate, Diana, lol!

I wouldn't mind visiting for an evening with Billie Holiday.  She was an amazing talent and look at what she endured during the times she lived in.
