Now it’s time to congratulate all the folk who contributed such nice long responses. Now a question, why is it that the continents of the world start and end with “A” Australia, Asia, America, Antarctica, Africa. Don’t forget to respond starting with, and ending with “N”

Not all of them though, Europe is a continent that is obviously an exception.

Naturally I’m sorry for the mistake, I knew I had missed something out !!!! silly me. Your right, Europe is the exception but it still leave the original question of why do the continents start and end with the same letters. Is there an answer to my question ?

Now as I see it,when they were trying to think of a name, They all stood there and said"ahh". African was one, but they decided to drop the N.

Navigating through the internet to find the answer to the question I have to say I can find no reference as to the said poser. I give up, it’s giving me a headache, time I took an aspirin.

North America and South America ... errr.... Is it not simply America having a top and a bottom, one south and one north but both being on the same continent ? I could be wrong, I'm sure someone can put us right but thanks for the thinking Mr Tregallion.
