I must say I quite detest country music, it just does not appeal to me.

One other type of music I like is classical or easy listening set to the sounds of nature (I guess that should be visa versa). I go to sleep each night to this type of music, though at the moment it is the ocean surf and no music at all.

My all time favourite composer of this type of music is Dan Gibson (sadly died a few years ago), and his music is called solitudes.

Wow, great thread!  I like many style of music and like you Jason it depends upon my mood.  I really like southern rock artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd (who can resist that guitar solo in Free Bird), The Allman Brothers, Credence Clearwater Revival (although they were actually from New Jersey!) and Shawn Mullins; The 50's crooners especially Dean Martin, Johnny Hartman, and Frank Sinatra; New Age including Loreena McKennit, Enya, and Lesiem; I also enjoy some country tunes but not any particular artist.

Jason, you are right about people sometimes being embarrassed by the music they like.  I wonder why?  If I hear it and like it, then I like it, and I don't care what others may think.  I am proud to say that I am very eclectic in my musical tastes and am a better person for it. One of the pleasures of life is when I discover a new artist that I really like!

Diana....it's funny about being embarrassed....I catch heck for my pick in music!!  I am always getting laughed at or get an odd look when I tell people about what I like!  Especially with my family...who already think I am odd!!

But let them laugh...they are the ones missing out of some great music.  I can listen to jazz from the 1920's all the way thru to The Jonas Brothers and Mily Cyrus!!  Laughing

Nearly 700 what Denzil? Undecided

Definite yes to Nat King Cole! Not so crazy about Bing Crosby...except for his Christmas music!
