Thanks all.

I had a great nights sleep with little to no pain, thanks to some children's meds I took right before retiring. I am trying to go meds free today to see how it goes.

Hello all.

Well I had my foot surgery yesterday and now I'm (supposed) to be reclining with my foot elevated for 48 hours as it comes back to life.

They tell me the surgery went well, and now I am the proud owner of a titanium rod and screws, one long incision and a very heavy cast to keep my foot immobile.

I am not able to put my foot the ground for three weeks, and then I will be in a boot for another five weeks and then hopefully I will be able to put on a shoe and DRIVE MY NEW MINI, which is now sat redundant in the garage. In mid October if all goes well, I will then have the other foot done and be in the same predicament until Christmas.

The full recovery period is one year, so just in time for husband and I to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in Ireland next October.

I appreciate all of your well wishes, they have cheered me no end. You're a great bunch and I love you all  .

Best wishes, the hardest part comes the one year in recovery, but I know you can do it. For awhile afterwards they keep good eye on you and it seems easier to do things in some ways. While your doing this, I got handed another estimate of $1500 for an "crown" to my tooth as an replacement today, in the meantime they gave me an temporary so I could decide which path I'd like to getting broke in. LOL..

I'm dreading the bill coming in, it's going to be more painful than my foot.

I had another pretty good night, though my back has started to ache, probably due to sitting around all day which is definitely something I never do.

My hair is driving me crazy, and I'm hoping someone can take me to the hairdressers so I can get it washed.

I am still getting the dizzy spells, and it's making it very hard for me to balance on crutches, so I am a little wary of going far. Plus right now when I stand up the blood goes right to my foot and it starts to throb and burn.

But on the whole, I think I'm doing well, and I'm enjoying all of this attention and best wishes.

Thanks all.

Sue, waiting to heal is the hardest part isn't it?  You just want to be up and back to your old self again. Be careful on those crutches especially if you are experiencing dizzy spells!

Take care and have a speedy recoverey!Smile

Went to the Doctor's today, hoping that he was going to take the cast off, but no. He asked me if i was experiencing fevers and the like, if I was having pains in my calf muscle (a sign of blood clots) I only had one pain in my calf this very morning, and no fevers, so I told him that and he said all sounded well and he'd leave the cast on one more week   .

So next week cast off, stitches out and a boot to wear.

Slow but sure progress I guess isn't bad.

Here is my poorly foot.
