I have just read this report in the BBC News online http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/7549489.stm

When I was over in May, I noticed many diseased leaves on the Horse Chestnut trees. Many of the trees I have known since my childhood, and now I read that some foreign disease is going to wipe them out.

I rally all my good POE friends to take pictures of the Horse Chestnut and post them here. The sad fact is that one day, all we may have left are our photos and fond memories.

Where I work Sue, there's loads of Horse Chestnut trees, all covered in conkers! I will take a photo on my phone (not the one I dropped down the loo lol)  when i'm back at work tomorrow and post it in POE to show you.

I didn't know what you were talking about - conkers.  So I wikied it and I wish I could be in PA in my grandma's front yard.  She had a huge horse chestnut tree and we spent many an hour as kids playing with them.  Some places in America call them buckeyes.  That's why Ohio is known as the Buckeye State.

Sue, is this something like Dutch Elm disease?
