I'm being distracted in a better way. Sitting here, almost bored out of my skull for the third week after surgery, POE is a GREAT distraction.

I hope you don't think I was telling you off Jason, about being off topic. I was telling everyone off (me included, as I'm the worst offender).

I hope he's not crying now, leaning over his patient, cleaning out the wounds with his tears.

Anything thread.... A little bit of anything from me with an English feel

Thought I would tell you about my day in Rochester . Charles Dickens used to hang out here, or so I’m led to believe!!! I parked close to the old castle wall next to an antique looking shop called Copperfield, a very clever reference to the famous David Copperfield of Dickens fame. I walked up the high street towards the cathedral passing the Old Curiosity Shop, another very clever reference to Dickens. Close to the cathedral is a coffee shop offering “dickens” coffee with a special edition of Pickwick Papers, how I laughed, once again I realised how clever the owners of the coffee shop had  been to utilise the dickens theme. The cathedral is magnificent but sadly I couldn’t find any reference to Charles Dickens anywhere, Martin Chuzzlewit (who ever he was) had scraped his name on one of the walls down in the crypt, I thought now that’s a great name, I bet Dickens would have used it in one of his novels had he thought of it. I had my lunch in Bleak House just off the high street; I ordered cauliflower cheese and bacon while the wench I met in the high street chose the steak and kidney pie option. Edwin Drood took our order but to be honest the service was poor, I think Edwin had his thoughts on Little Dorrit, she was serving up drinks in between flashing her knicker elastic and t*ts his way. I finished the meal with a quart of mulled wine while the wench opposite sipped at a beverage of hop water and bilberry juice. My coach arrived as the cathedral bells rang out, Drood swept his coat onto the mud covered path so as my wench wouldn’t slip while accessing the now slippery coach step. I slipped him a half penny piece for his troubles of which he seemed much pleased. Twilight made outlines of thatched cottages against the eerie blue evening sky. Our team sped us on towards the Sussex coast, the coach wheels clattering on the occasional tiled roads made for a long and uncomfortable journey home. I had great expectations of my day in Rochester , I was going to use it for a tale of two cities, Dover and Rochester …. Hay, what a great name for a book… Yes, Dover and Rochester, I will start right now.

Great little story Mick, very clever   .

Remember it is a family friendly web site, so we must try to keep references to body parts OK for young eyes.

When I read Rochester, I immediately thought of Mr. Rochester from Jane Eyre.

Are you a paramedic, Jason?

If so, you have my respect. I helped out after a three-car motorway smash a few years ago. Two dead, five seriously injured.

Awful. Not something I'd like to do for a living.
