I just had my annual physical and my doctor found a growth which needs to be removed and a biopsy preformed to determine if it’s benign.  I’ve had this type of growth twice before and they turned out to be benign each time, but this was my first time seeing my new primary care physician since my previous doctor retired, and she was throwing around the “C” word, scaring me to death.

My previous doctor was always, “It’s probably nothing, I’ve seen this before but I am going to send you to someone else to have it checked out. Don’t worry; I am sure it’s nothing.” And he was right, it was nothing.  But this new doctor has got me all in a tizzy now.

I will be seeing a specialist Thursday of next week when I’ll find out more.  It’s probably just the same as in the past but there is always that chance that it could be serious, so, I would be very grateful for the prayers of my believing friends, and the good wishes of my non-believing friends!

Thanks in advance to you all.

Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as of this moment, Diana.

I dislike Doctors who jump on the C word, they have got to know how unnerving it is to their patients.

I know this will be a long week, waiting for your specialist appointment. Don't you think they would try and get you in sooner, just to cut down on the anxiety.

God bless you, Diana.

Thank you for your kind words and your prayers Sue they are much appreciated!

You are right about Doctors who jump on the C word; can you believe that at first they scheduled me to see the specialist in 5 weeks?!  I called them back and told them I wanted another appointment asap. Fortunately, they had a cancellation for next Thursday and I grabbed it!

Thank you Andy and Denzil!  Yes you are right about my doctor's reaction, and intellectually I know that but the old emotions don't follow so quickly.  Sharing my concerns and getting the loving, postive feed back from all of you my friends, does much to ease my anxiety and help me to keep positive!

Several years ago my Doctor discovered I had an enlarged thyroid. She went over the top, talking about Thyroid cancer, scheduling me for a x ray that cost thousands of dollars, also an ultrasound.

Once she said cancer, I decided that a local GP was not enough, and scheduled an appointment with an Endocrinologist in the big city. When I saw him, he was all calm, didn't mention cancer, didn't want me to have any x rays, just took my blood and put me on meds. The thyroid was under control in no time.

I NEVER went back to the local GP, I found myself another one.

So, moral to that story, local GP's can be good for local ailments, but specialists are better.

Diana, my best wishes for a good outcome to your tests. My thaughts are with you. I know how you feel, they found a shadow on my lung and said they are going to check to see if it was cancer. Six months later they told me it was only a bad chest infection. You can imagine what those six months were like for me. The just forgot to let me know. Dearest Diana, I may not pray, but all my wishes are for a good outcome for you.
