Everyone has went LCD "nuts" because they save you about 80 per cent energy from standard lights. How do you others celebrate the Holidays, you still make the Christmas Pudding and "torch it"..laughs" I saw an idea I liked the other day, they hung simple plain christmas bulbs off on fishing line around the top of the decorated tree from the ceiling, different lengths...to give it an magical look. this was red bulbs hanging down...thinking my grandkids might like an idea like that in their rooms...one has small lightened snowmen, and I try to make an wintery scene on the counter, he might like snowflakes/blue bulbs hanging down for an "magical" look maybe. Well, I'm off, got some work to do around here. catch you all later on. |

Well yes, we actually do that.
It was always a tradition in our home, and my boys get a kick out of it. Pour a little brandy over the cake and set a light to it, the flames don't last long, but it's impressive. I usually make my Christmas pudding in October, I steam it for a few hours on the day I make it, then steam it for one hour on Christmas Day. I LOVE Christmas! Right now I'm working hard on my ASL final. I had to pick a song, translate it into ASL, it had to include five new signs as well as signs we have learned. In two weeks I have to sign it in-front of class. I chose The Carol of the Birds. |

Your world is not falling apart, it's changing..there's an difference. You can embrace it and make the most of it, or you can sucumb to having to change against your will, maybe you have something to learn that needed to take you in an different direction...explore your world an bit. Seldom are there not "changes" going on during ones lifetime...this is just another phase of it all. Be of good cheer, maybe you needed to come here and find some new friends perhaps. Maybe through the conversations, somethig "grand" will happen, you just never know Cathy!

That's good Sue....your bird reminds me to check out the bird situation for this winter also...could stand to get some bird feed. Kids made bird houses last year, but most likely could use some filling up. I'll bet your pudding is good...nothing like "torching" the food to make it elegantly rememberable. I found my kids' Christmas bulbs last year, I had forgotten I'd made them into little reindeer holders with pipe cleaners, Put one through the bulb, bring it evenly in half, take each side and make curls on the ends toward the center for antlers, , tie them so there's an loop below them and longnate the bottom loop of it...like an face...and it looks like an little deer face with an buble hanging off it. So simple once you get started, you can use any kind of bulb, most the time I use just simple plain colored ones though. I think they said "copper" is this year "fad" color, with an brown bulb, this would look nice. I just did copper ribbon around green sofa pillows, in bows, to look like an decorated Christmas box and put some "silk" holly with berries in the center. Our tree will be mainly Red color this year, I have brown sofa, loveseat and chair in the livingroom...greens and touches of oranges and beige. So we need the red to brighten things up a bit around here. I lookd at all those boxes coming down out of th eattic yesterday and could of "screamed" in fear and "panic"..to think I have so much in ways. But I'll do a little at a time and if goes quickly into place. Whcih reminds me, I better get to it, don't get anything done by yacking on the "net" so as to say..I bought my grand-daughter an digital camera with some clothes this year for her Christmas present. Maybe she can get me in here with an different avatar yet...no, I haven't forgotten changing it, just I get wound up in so many other things during the days as they roll on by.
