If you could see them up close, you'd never be scared of them, Krissy!  They're cute little buggers and huge keystone species in ecosystems.  I went out with a group of educators about 10 years ago to mist net them at night and do the biological data thing.  It was great!

Sue, the picture is from the Apache Lake resort - it's out in the middle of nowhere in the desert along the string of reservoirs in the Salt River Cyn in central Arizona.  Really pretty place.  The bats just sort of add to the atmosphere.  lol
