Oh Roses, I have a wonderful bread sauce recipe I've been using for the past 20 years.

I'll convert it to American measurements and post it later today.

Quick and Easy recipe for bread sauce.

Take one loaf of bread. Smash it up with a rolling pin.

Take one bottle of HP Sauce. Shake bottle. Dollop all over the smashed bread.

Mix well with wooden spoon.

Allow to congeal.

Wonderful! Who said men cannot cook??

Of course the bread sauce is made with homemade white bread, which I make two or three days before hand.

Sue’s Bread Sauce

1 onion cut in half

15 whole cloves

10 fluid ounces Whole milk

1 bay leaf

6 peppercorns

6 oz stale bread, made into crumbs

4 tablespoons butter

A good whollop of heavy whipping cream

At least 2 ½ hours before dinner:

-          Stud each half of the onion with cloves

-          In a saucepan add milk, onion, bay leaf and peppercorns

-          Scald milk, but do not boil

-          Remove from heat and leave in a warm place for a good 2 hours

30 minutes before dinner

-          Strain the milk mixture through a sieve, put sieve aside

-          Return milk to the range and bring to the boil

-          Stir in about 4 oz. of the bread crumbs and 1 tablespoon of butter

-          Place back on a low heat until sauce is thick

-          Add a little more of the bread crumbs if it is too runny

-          Just before serving add 1 tablespoon butter and enough cream to make the sauce a semi thick consistency, not too thick but not runny.

Sue's recipe sounds better, but yours is a heck of a lot easier Ray. LOL! Wink
