I'm not crazy about those electrical devices for back massage, foot bath, hamburgers, etc.  The stuff that people give you because they're at a loss.  They take up a lot of space and they're stuff you'd never re-gift unless you didn't like the person you were giving it to.  lol.  I even feel weird about donating them to a thrift store.

Oh Ruth!  That reminds me of a gift my mom gave me and my sister last year. It was some sort of crazy chicken/turkey cooker thingy!!  You sat it on this middle piece and put a lid on it..oh I don't know...it was all rather scary! I don't know what my mom was thinking!!! Surprised

I don't like to sound ungrateful but when I was little I always got the joint present. "This is for your brithday and Christmas". It always bugged me, especially when my brother got presents for his birthday in August and presents at Christmas.

Ah, I guess you just don't see the big picture when your little.

We solved that one, with Hubby's birthday the day before New Year's Eve, we some years back decided to opt for going out to dinner for birthday's with others, that way they can bring whomever they want and buy whatever they want, and everyone can chip in an buy the guest honored dinner if they would like, it's usually less then an dollar, unless the dinner turns out an "intimate dinner for two"...and most often we try to go somewhere for an overnighter also...just to get away for an bit...sometimes to an spa type of place for an good soak or swim in the warm water...depends on our mood, and what's going on at the time. We found out that this seemed to work out the best, what's an "dollar" people..not much for an good friend. You'd save it in not buying the birthday card most the time and making that yourself. Important coming out of the Holiday expenses also. ..after all, it's being with others..that helps make the day. We had the neatest "on-line"party one time, everyone had to be an piece of furniture, or inanimate piece of household things..never had so much "fun"in my life, one person was an sofa when two people came in to "romance", she turned out an "Blushing Red" sofa, and another one asked if he could be the "party punch bowl"..he liked to "drink" and off we went on this party and describing our situations. Yes, I was the ceiling chandlier, so I could dim myself down quietly when I felt like it, and let people "swing"across the room on me if they felt frisky, not to mention they hung the honored "mistletoe" on me...I was really in my "shinning" glory that night. We did have one wicked fella that wanted .to be the juccuzi "jets"so he could feel around on the females...tisk tisk!  You guessed it, somone jumped in as an bar of soap! The gals got pretty slippery after that one...Not to mention the towels were complaing of being wet also. All in all, it was quite an night, we kept this party up for hours on end one evening.
