I was supposed to be on my New Years day bird watch this morning, but I'm feeling under the weather so couldn't go.

Instead I found these pictures. Check out number 14. Take a look at the wing span on that Juvenile Bald Eagle, I think it's breathtaking. Numbers 7 and 11 aren't half bad either.

Hi Lyn:  Yes, I hope you get the pipes sorted finally.  Is all that water flowing being charged to your water bill?

Sue, I'm so excited!  Wednesday I will be down at Whitewater Draw, near Douglas, Arizona down on the Mexican border doing a sandhill crane count.  I can't wait.  And I got a new camera for Christmas with a longer zoom, so hopefully I'll be able to get a good shot or two.

The eagle and osprey shots in that link you posted are brilliant.   About 2 summers ago we were fishing at a little lake up north and I got to watch an osprey fish for a whole afternoon.  It was great!

Yes Sue they were, sweet little things they were, bobbing up and down lol ...  and nooo Ruth, we don't have a water meter we just pay a lump sum for the year so not losing out that way, but I do hate seeing water wasted, but not a lot I could do about it more than I have already.

I remember a long time ago, I believe in a Reader's Digest, about a man and his group who were making a desperate attempt to save the Sandhill Crane.  It would seem his efforts succeeded, thank goodness.  This area, near the Mississippi River, is finally getting their eagles back again.  They were nearly extinct.  I believe I saw one last summer, it resembled a hawk, but was much larger.  Mary Jo

Those little Pied Wagtails I call road runners. You can hardly see thier little legs when they run along.

Just got back from the tip (clearing out all the Christmas rubbish!) and seen a buzzard, two kestrels and a little flock of goldfinches.
