I took a picture today of my cat Russ facing off with a northern mockingbird in the tree in my back yard.  Happy ending though, the bird got away and Russ didn't break his silly neck!! lol

Hi there. We had a run to the coast today to make the most of a decent spell of sunshine.  I saw a small flock of birds flying well out to sea near the mouth of the River Tyne.  I took a couple of shots with my new long lens, a pressy from Lilian.  They were too far out to identify with the naked eye, but when i put them onto the computer and enlarged the pictures, the birds look a lot like 'Sanderlings'.  If they are, then they are a new bird for me.  I posted posted the best shot a short time ago and would like any confirmation.  The birds were a long way out thus the poor picture, sorry.

Roy J.

On Wednesday, sandhill cranes, snow geese, ferruginous hawk, redtail hawk, harrier hawk, golden eagle and several duck species I can't identify.

Today, just tons of mourning doves and the typical urban birds, pigeons and grackles mostly.

Where's your Sanderling picture Roy? I'll take a look too.

Ruth, I can't wait to see your Sandhill Crane pictures. What a wonderful experience.

Yes, Sue, they're very cool.  Noisy too, but they have a really lovely call.
