That must have been an exciting capture, as they are not easy to snap in flight. I'll be interested to see what Andy thinks.

Yes, they are sanderlings....calidris alba the only species to confuse with them in flight is the knot (same genus, calidris canutus). The difference is the knot is a little larger and it fans its' tail in flight. It also has a broader white stripe on the wings. |
