According to one report it measures 250 metres in length and is 60 metres wide (the Oxford Mail reports 600ft by 250ft) in the shape of a jellyfish and it has arrived in a field close to us in Oxfordshire.

So what do the members think man-made or alien?

I think they are a hoax. Painstakingly made in the night by people with planks to flatten the crops and to create the swirling patterns. they are works of art I think!

Not really sure, I think possibly they are hoaxes, and like Ray says works of art! i mean think of the amount of work involved in making one like that!! But saying that, nature does make some pretty impressive shapes, so i sometimes wonder if they are naturally formed?   aliens?? oh now i really don't know! they do say they see strange lights around areas of crop circles, and like i said imagine the work gone into that jellyfish one!! would have taken ALL night, and in the dark??  wow!

But surely Ray if they were 'man-made' so to speak, would they be so perfect in shape? And it's not as though it's just here in the UK, it's a worldwide phenomenon and yet nobody has ever caught anybody at it have they? I'm thinking that we have an unexplained power generating from the earths magnetic field, and I know nuffink!! So c'mon members what are your thoughts?

I think you make a valid point Jason re the amount of work that went into the jellyfish and in the dark? How and/or where would you start, how could it be made so perfect, why haven't police helicopters picked up a heat source? Something very strange I reckon!!

I think they are a hoax done by very clever and talented vandals. Come on; why would an alien species go through the trouble? If they are that advanced and they want to take over the earth I would imagine they have the ability to stealthily wipe us out while we are sleeping. Undecided

That's a nice thought isn't it?Laughing

Reg Presley of the Troggs seem a bit of a crop circle buff I was listening to on BBC radio recently. He did end the phone discussion telling a story of someone, possibly he knew, that had worked on a farm where a crop circle had appeared.

Asking the farmer what he thought they were, the farmer just told him to wait until after 6, and watch. So, after work , he waited to see what might happen. Almost on cue, a flock of birds flew over and reaching where the crop circle was, suddenly fell into disarray, flying in allsorts of directions until they were clear of it and got heading the right way again from where they’d left off.

I’ve had the impression for many years now that some of them are connected to magnetic fields, and their answer is underground, rather than above it. And oddly , they only seem to appear during dry spells rather than rainy summers.
