Just laid off my job!!!

Just got in Diana and so sorry to read of your situation at work. Both Anna and I  send our prayers for a speedy resolution to your problem, apart from which, we are helpless, to help you with.

Keep your chin up dear friend but take care, something will turn up for you, of that we are sure.

Was just thinking if I were leaving school now and starting my work career. I think I'd have to look very closely at the industries/companies I was applying for a job. The main criteria would be a good chance of being made redundant. Then, after what ever period of employment, I'd be made redundant and get my tax free ( up to £30K limit) redundancy payment. Then I'd look  for another job with similar prospects.. Then, when prospective empoyers ask why I left my previous job, it would be because I was made redundant----nothing to do with me !

So, with any luck, a large part of my yearly salary would thus be tax free. Then, if people asked what I did for a living, I'd tell them I was a redundancy consultant.

Sorry to hear that Diana, do like everyone else, go into the schools, as they are about the only ones still operating no matter where you end up in the country these days...and I think an mistake we made was not having an side line "something" going that could carry us into retirement years for an little extra added income. It takes time. There's an opening out here for an Safeway grocery store manager, starting wages is about $45,000...if that's any help. Just becareful of the entry test when you take it, it has an trickey part to it, or did...they may have resolved that by now...as they seemed displeased themselves when I took the test.  I sure don't see how people are doing it...I think as the grandkids age, and can help themselves..things around here will be better, if we don't "tank out" in the process.  I am so sorry Diana:(  Sending my prayers to you and you are so right i truly believe that things happen for a reason and i know how scared you must be my husband almost lost his job after we built this new house but Thank God things worked out so far we just pray everyday that it stays that way.. You can always move to alabama i will take you in:))))) not sure if that sounds tempting to you;)) But seriously if you need to talk or if anything i can do to help please dont hesitate emailing me or calling if you want my number not sure what i can do but i can sure listen if that alone but keep your chin up you are a very intelligent lady and i know something will come up soon for you;)xxxxxxxxxx

Sorry about your job Diana but surely they gave you at least a weeks notice, you cannot be expected to live on fresh air for six weeks, is there no financial help available in the meantime.

I am sure you will find at least a temporary job with extra people being employed with the period up to Christmas and sometimes a temporary job can turn into a permanent one, anyway best of luck to you.
