To be fair i don't think its muslims trying to ban it, its non muslims foolishly thinking its going to offend muslims and any other religion!! which i agree is crazy!! and creates more racism.

But i've said this before, if your racist and want to start an anti muslim riot, the best way to do it is pretend that muslims have asked to ban Christmas! even if they haven't many will believe it, and it'll cause a LOT of hatred!    just a theory......

Oh, I agree with you about who's likely behind this, Jason.  Ramadan was just the first non-Christian holiday that popped into my head.  My statement about it offending me was tongue-in-cheek.

Oh, I don't think it's any other religious organization behind it. I think it's just "political correctness" gone too far...again.

My point about Hanukkah or Ramadan was that the government wouldn't dare do that to those religious communities. They'd have law suits left and right if they did!

Case in point, in the US it's not acceptable for a teacher to put up a nativity scene in her class room but the teacher in the next class room is allowed to put up a menorah. It's religious discrimination no matter how they try to justify it.

Changing Christmas to Winterval would be experienced by
Christians as religious discrimination and a violation of freedom of speech.

It would be great if some teacher would be a rebel and put up a religious icon from all sects at Christmas time!!!

I know it wouldn't fly but.....BUT...it would be a good educational thing for kids!!

Yeah your right!  I'm not a christian, but agree it is strongly offensive to say they are banning christian religious celebrations. And true the other religions wouldn't put up with it!

Even if it did get changed you have to remember that Christmas is in the heart. Christmas is about unconditional love and sharing it. They can take away the Holiday but they can't take it from your heart. The spirit of Christmas can still be strong!!

Well said, Cathy!
