What are your favorite decorations? What colors do you decorate with?

I want to start early this year making some with the girls. Anyone remember making decorations as kids? Can you recommend any? Paper chains, paper snowflakes and such?

I used to like colored lights but my decorations don't stand out with them. So I want to do all white lights. I have so many pretty decorations that I want them to stand out and be noticed.
