Please forgive me, I hope I don't violate any protocols here. I don't know the answer to Rod's question, but I couldn't help but mention one of my all time favorite songs. It was done by an English clarinetist, Bernard Stanley Bilk, better known as "Aker" Bilk. Even before the now famous "British Invasion", Bilk hit the top of the American charts, with "Sunset on the Shore". This is one of the all time great melodies.

hi bruce you will find that the recording was "stranger on the shore " it was a big hit over here in 1963,he only had one hit record after that, i think he is still playing but dont hear much of him now.

Great tune. I remember the television series it came from , which gave it the title. In 1963 I spent 6/8d on it too and it lies in a box now with my other 45s. The track was rather long & the grooves went out almost to the label. Makes me feel ancient! Acker also had a previous hit with Summer Set, probably a play on his home county.

Exactly, I don't know how I forgot that title. I just remember it was a big hit here, and I loved it, even though I didn't remember the name. Thank you for reminding me what the title is.
