Well Sue, the alarm was set to noon, but clock time was set 20 mins out, and wound up. Of course, don't know a thing about it until the darn thing went off next to me on the bed. I do enjoy my sleep---unless I'm busy trying to wake myself up at the same time !!!

Lawson Posts: 2310 Joined: 17th Jul 2008 Location: USA | Posted at 20:15 on 30th December 2009 I decided to come in here, before I get ready to start taking down the Christmas tree for this year....I'll be watching Britain/England having it's "New Year's Eve" before we do over here.. as usual you know...so just stick up that "sign" for me so I'll see it. "POE says "HI" everyone!... Laughs* Last night, what can I say about last night....we had an surprise little snowstorm squall came through here and shut down this city at "rush hour" something like when the whole south-eastern USA is evacuating for an hurricane. You can read about it on "Facebook" under Mark and Dave on Kex 1190 AM radio..as they had asked people to send in how long it took them to drive about 30 miles or less...for most it was something like 5 to 6 hours. As he said, everyone this morning is not talking about the "snow".... they are talking about how long they were stopped in the commute home...some of the comments are rather cute though....such as..."Hi, we are in an "communiting" van with 8 other people, and I thought you'd like to know it's taken us "hours" going at 3 MPH...to get across Portland, but it's the "yellow snow" I thought I should report, as people have been in lines now for "hours"..and are using anything they can to relieve themselves and dumping it on the roadside"....I see.. do you know everyone in the van your traveling?,,,"Well, let's just say we are "freinds" now!",,starts laughing. "Personally...I think I'll do an tree here myself pretty soon". .....".Hi, I'm an mother with an 6 month old nursing baby....I've been on the Freeway, trying to get home, for 6 hours right now, but I had to stop once to "nurse" the baby. Guy next to me is reading an novel, we are stopped like we are in an parking lot". The stories go on an on...but some of them are pretty interesting to hear at times. They managed to get the public buses chained up and some of the large trucks out of the way, going through Portland's West Hills area, but it was most likely by midnight before many of these people actually got across town from leaving at 4 pm in the afternoon...if not later. It's not easy to move an city with an million people, let alone those traveling through on trips and many long-haul truckers...esp when such city is taken by surprise...as it was not forecasted..this little snow squall. With that I best get going, I'm getting behind in most everything as ussual, have an house of Christmas decorations to take down also. Just thought I'd come in with one of the latest "Americanisms" going on in these parts. Just as pleasant as can be out there right now...bit of sunshine also. |

But here in the UK we only need an inch of snow to shut the place down! Trusting things will improve quickly for you guys. |

Hi Beth. A very Happy New year to you also. Thanks so much for your words of encouragmement. In the last two days my six blessings arrived with their families to spend the new year with me and with each other. Tow came from Barbados, two from canada and two from Spain. I was asked by them what plans i had for the New year, when i was not visiting with them. i said i had added meals on Wheels to my to do list.My boys responded with. Mother you are going to be 73 next birthday, these are your twilight years for doing less not more. My daughter Michelle seeing the expression on my face ,said "Mother you go girl" I had to smile, and reply to them saying that it seems to me, that there are two basic ways to feel the fullness of life, and both arise from the authenticity of our relationships. One is from our love of life, and the other from our love of each other. Silience! Beth we just got to love them. (smile) All the very best to you and yours.

Remember the crucial task of age is balance, a veritable tight-rope of balance; keeping just well enough, just brave enough, just gay and interested and starkly honest enough to remain a sentient human being. Yesterday i wanted to share some time with my gran daughter becky so i took her to dairy Queen, to order a new item they had advertised. We drove up and Becky gave the order two Winds" please. Winds? asked the girl, Becky was blown away at this reaction, (and she didn't yet have the wind in her hand) I said you know the new item you adverised in the paper! my voice rising with impatience. After a moment or two of discussion between us the girl's eyes lit up she suddenly got it! O," she said, with a smile "You want the new Breeze " Becky laughed out and said, thats alright gran, thats want you meant right. She has promised to keep our little secret, but we laughed all the way home. What can i say? I was close enough. |
