Given the Irish connections to this film-----Maureen O'Hara----2 of her brothers were in it. And speaking of John Ford, Ken Curtis ( earlier) was his at-one-time son-in-law.

thats amazng, the other connections were --------remember the vicar on the tandem with his wife that was barry-fitzgeralds brother and the kids on the fence after the horse race the boy was john waynes son  and the girlwas related also to john wayne.

So, they didn't look too far for the supporting cast I guess. Ken C was married to Barbara Ford, 1952-64. Trying to keep track of family connections-----Barry Fitzgerald---born William Joseph Shields, brother of Arthur Shields as you mentioned, James.

Maureen O'Hara's brothers in it were James O'Hara and Charles Fitzsimons.  John Ford's son Patrick Ford, was in it as a stunt double. Looks like Ken Curtis also had a small part as an acordian player.

they were all under contrac to john ford and were on a break from filming "i think"a john ford epic,the quiet man only took a few weeks to make it is one of my favorites i just cant think what the film was.
