I must admit, that even though I am an female, I've been in business college classes and supervisor seminars with many an male...to "talk shop" and sometimes you know how that goes. I know the name of "Shirley" is also an man's name, it originally means an dweller of an "shire" which was an village in merry ole England at one time. But there is also an rather famous Jamestown Plantation estate in Virginia called the "Shirley Plantation" also..you can find it on-line if you want more particulars about it. I went to school with two Shirley's use to live in this town, now deceased in one case if I remember rightly...an local gal at an retail store I've known for some time now, her name is Shirley also, and I kid her about there only being 67,0000 of me.... by my name in the US.alone...according to the little "links" Babs use to supply us here to play around with two Christmas pasts...probably should look to see if we can bring up some of those links again, she was always giving us little fun "tests"to go an do back then. Hope that settles your question..now for "JOHN"...I'm just kidding....no "Dear John" letters as yet. I know one of the nicest guys named John, an friend of my son..they went to school together. I was forced into walking to town one day, and was hollering and yelling under my breathe on how many people I've helped and picked up through the years.... and no one there for me when I truly needed it, and he came along and saw me, and says..."What are you doing walking?"..so I told him, I had been talking to my girlfriend whom said she was leaving for work and she said she's call me when she got home in an few minutes..she's quite reliable....she never called, I thought something was "wrong"...turned out later on it was..but I decided to walk to her house as she has "MS"...I did not know at the time she was at the hosptial with her "live-in" friend having keeled over dead....she came home an found him. Anyway, John came along picked me up and brought me home, saving me several miles walking, I had already walked about 7 miles to see if there was something wrong with my friend.. to not find her at her house. Call it "intution" I guess. She called me later that evening and told me what had happened. I am grateful for people that help other people in need. I had just gotten off crutches and it was hard for me to walk back then....so goes I guess. She has since moved in with her grandson. I have not seen much of her...I have no idea if she's even living these days either...she was due to start taking weekly shots for her "MS" back then. It's strange how you can know someone for nearly all their life and then one day something happens and you kind of get going in separate paths. Time goes on. I started working for "Boston Market" and it kind of did things in for us, with her working job also.I know they eventually forced her into retirement from her illness though...I doubt she cared by then anyway. |
