I stayed up all night with a girlfriend playing it over and over and over and over...until my mother came in and screamed at us to stop. lol. The song was: Little Willie by a band called Sweet. |

I was 13 at the time. I think the second "local" 45 rpm record I ever bought was "East Side Story" by Bob Seger and the Last Heard. Seger, of course, went on to real fame with his Silver Bullet Band. He and his band the Last Heard (later the Bob Seger System) used to play regularly at a little teen club about eight blocks from my house called The Hideout. We used to go there every weekend to see his band, and also performers like Glenn Frye (later of The Eagles) and Ted Nugent. Strangely enough, Bob Seger and his band played at my junior prom! Weird. Here is a YouTube link to first televised performance of "East Side Story" when Bob Seger and the Last Heard were featured on a popular local teen dance show called "Swingin' Time," which aired out of Windsor, Ontario just across the Detroit River from us: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JL_N-Dly-Q (I hope this is alright with POE). First record I bought was a 45 and it was Sherry by the Four Seasons. Not long after that, though, the Beatles arrived and it was pretty much Beatles and any other British invasion band that came along. I still listen to all of them. |

She was followed quite rapidly by Beatles, Stones and the rest of the 60's bands. Never had any money!!! Have hundreds of LP's, which i have gradually converted to digital, so have them all on the PC and also CD. That kept me busy for a quite a while..... |

Early ones of mine---as the 78's were getting a bit worn out!---were Let's Do The Twist; Chubby Checker; Glad All Over, Dave Clark Five, and Washington Square by The Village Stompers. Early LP's were mainly the early Beatles ones which we still have--1963 Please Please Me The Beatles and the more unusual of them being Beatles '65, the US version of the UK Beatles For Sale LP with slightly different tracks here and there as was Capitol Records policy. And a trip down memory lane to the "Tottenham Sound" of The Dave Clark Five. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yrrch43CweU Edited by: Paul Hilton at:17th July 2011 10:44 |

I liked.. it but also the "Man in Black" song he made later on also...never bought that one though. I have all those old records..from the 50's into the 70's. From Neil diamond to Pink Floyd...yep..Beattles also. By the 90's I was into many of my cultural studies music from time to time. Hard to find an music station I really like these days. |
