What can I do with small green, unripe figs, if anything?

Had a bumper second crop of figs, but there is no way they will ripen before the cold weather sets in so anybody got any (polite) suggestions as to what I can do with them?

Pickled maybe, fig chutney or jam/jelly etc?

Same here Ron, our figs are still very green, seems such a shame to waste them, tried ripening them off in the house last year but it didn't work....If  you find anything let me know, and visa versa

If you cut the fig open and its pink inside they are ripe, they don't go brown on the tree, as these are dried figs

Have found a recipe for green unripe fig jam..... if you google "what to do with green figs" it comes up with loads of recipes,  Also the white sticky milky stuff that comes from the stork bit when you take them from the tree is good for warts... thats what it said on a homeapathic site.

Hope this helps.. I might have a go at some chutney

LOL, James.

Ron, try soaking them in rum or brandy and make green Figgy Pudding for Christmas.  :-)

You happen to have a recipe Ruth? Because I think there could be a problem with the latex that oozes from them.

Oh wow!! Do you mean there is actually a recipe for Figgy Pudding? I thought that it was just a line in the song.

Anyway, I really absolutely most positively and absolutely enjoy this entire website, especially Cornwall.  Hope to visit someday.  Meanwhile I visit this website.
