Younger days and  before my son came along...we use to take off weekends and go places...my hubby is an photography buff and took pictures for our scout troop when my son was growing up in it. I did the photo album. But back younger days we joined the Elks Lodge Travel Club for an while..and use to go with them to their outtings...and I belonged to an ladies group for about 20 years....one of the ladies had an brother whom set up restruants and eventally an good share of Las Vegas, her mother was Portland's Mayor back then "scretary"..her hubby an fire inspector for the city...( I am not to sure I didn't meet Michelle Obama many years ago through them) .but we got together every month and went to an new place to eat at at...and every month also got together for an "Bunco" game. With all the kids here and heavily into Scouts, I gave it up for going with them...as we did more or less with the Elks Lodge also...but work schedules also conflicted at one time as well.. I've done "feather Flowers" .little girls wardrobe.sewing and crafts for other people, crocheting, and home decor projects...when we moved in we had this house on an clump of mud...and the downstairs unfinished...finsished it off.  Besides my family history I do cultural studies also...and was at one time helping historical societies all over the USA in that. But as I've said...by the time my son was 6 and I only worked now an then part time, mainly Boston Market trying to learn what goes on in the back room of restruants..and they wanted me to try out their managerial postion, didn't want to travel across the other side of Portland daily to do it for about 50 cent an hour more..gas prices had risen tha tmuch by then...esp with an small son, whose school was on this side of town.... they up and closed shop so as to say...but I was also back then an charter member of the Women's National Institue of Art  Washington D. C.... getting started and the National Association of Workng Women....and use to attend their workshops also to meet members and hear techniques from women whom have been successful. But I've also had some 73 other kids in my house over the years and we also belong to Little League Baseball besides Scouts and working. We finshed off the downstairs, needs renovated now...and landscaped and planted the yard. I love music...it's been with me throughout the years...and if you don't already know...when you give your child music lessons at "Yamaha Music School" you have to as an parent learn his lessons with him so you can help him practice at home. Yes, I know where the middle "C" is at on the piano....I'm pretty novice as my son switched to an Saxaphone in school...and he always was in choir. So was I in school. WE got our first computer after we moved in here around 1978 sometime and took right off from it...esp in sports games back then...I could play an pretty mean game of "golf'...my hubby does the Nursery Inventory on his at wrok, and plays cards on the Pc downstairs...as I have my lap top. We've had three more computers since the first one.. After my mom died, I took on my un-married sister then to help and dad took on my much younger borther. I took on the family Holiday cooking and kind of made collecting cookbooks an hobby. I've been an weight watcher's member many times because of that also. After my near-death experince...I was extremely "sensitive" and got into "Earthquake" and psychic phenonmen then. That lead me to being asked to take this to Jim Berkland and at one with my "fish" tanks into an Fedral research Grant...but I didn't persue it. But I use to alert those on Berkland's web site of pending earthquakes...by frequencies I would pick up. Before my heart operation I was walking about 5 to 10 miles every week....as does my hubby to stay fit for the Scout hiking...but that's went dramatically down over the years. I also got an new camera recently but it won't be until next summer and my hubby is semi-retired we could ever go somewhere to play around with it possibly. My son and his family have lived with us the better of 12 years as his kids ( he has one girl and two sons) grew up also, and I've taken care of them as she worked...now she's going to college to be an surgeon's assistant in operations by handing him the tools needed for it...and I still watch the grandkids if she can't and hubby has my grandson in his scout troop as of this Friday. So for grandparents we still haven't at times gotten out of the "parenting" stage at times....though theey've moved into their own house and been in it for about an year now o rslightly longer.  I've done an lot of things in my life so far. I came here researching England on family history...and reading....esp.. Bernard Cromwell...historian....and the "Templar Knights"....and learned much of the Native American Culture. Having been an Supervior in the past (10 years) of my own 5 person depatment...I'm watching our economics right now often taken the same lousy course the facilty did  that cost it it's survival over the years. I go in all kind of different paths at times...I am an "Gemini" you know...ruler of communications and into everything.

I also love to read.

I love history too, Ted; especially Medievil history. I love the Plantagenates and Tudors especially.

I used to cross stitch and have produced some intricae work, but now my eyesight is so bad I can't do it, not even with the speical magnifying glass. Plus the arthritis in my hands makes holding the needle almost imossible.

I like to sing, and wish that when I was young I could have had voice lessons. Not to become famous or anything, just to be perfect what I think is a pretty decent voice.

As I get older, I feel I have a little more time to devote to hobbies, plus it keeps one active, both physically and mentally.

I've seen the man in person, James; believe me, there is no hair; bad eyesight or not.

Don't know about Dave...but Scouts teach it...I've seen some of them do wooden bowels of burls on trees....they alone are hard to find these days.  I use to try to keep up with getting the craft books...and use to enjoy seeing how they took dowels...and made them into fancy tree ornaments fro Christams and they had an Santa you could cut down then finsih off whittling. I know an gal that took up wood projects with the jig saw...she loves it. I have some books on how to make furniture with sticks of bood..limbs, branches, etc....just gave my brother one for making small toys for kids. Ones you use to see in the late 1920's...pull toys and piggy banks that take the penny as an little guy bends over and tips his hat.

At one time was messing around with an free style sort of quyilt block...it was in red/white/blue print and then I would cut up the block and resew it together and then embroider in the pieces I had cut up with log cabins, candles, trees, stocking..anything with the Christmas theme....didn't ever get it finsished though...takes considerable time to do each block. Use to do ceramics of all kinds at one time also.  Both greenware and already fired. Have done some with refinishing furniture.... did an formal diningroom table for my step-mother to match her china hutch in days of yore. As an kid use to like to do those paint-by-number pictures....now a days I like to build puzzles. I have an gentle and lovely woman sleeping and fading in around hert gently is what she's dreaming of..it's Christmas puzzle.I've made by hand "tea dolls"...completely hand sewn and stuff with real tea also...just like in the 1700's. She has an little apron over her dress that you embroider on...I've done simple "cross-stich" before also. Worked partime localy here at an Holly Farm, coupel years in an row...we use to send huge live/real wreaths back to New York...did one for Macy's every year. I pitter pater in all kind of things.....Things like making ornaments out of old canning lid rings. Some bead work...made an ring with an eagle on it one time...small beads..."Charles" in another web stie takes papaer clips and makes them into angels with real garnets in the center of them....then he has them blessed and sends them off to whomever he choses....beleive me, you never know they werre ever paperclips. I sent him my beading boards when the lady near me that owned the Rock Shop sold it as I couldn't get the little carved eagles any more.I generally have no problem finding something to do.
