We played outside our homes, in the road, and weren't afraid of being molested. We were in by 9 pm most nights, or had to have a very good reason why not. We didn't know what drugs were, other than those supplied by the doctor. We lived with our parents who were married, hard up, but honest. Today some girls/women seem to accept the fact that the father of their child will disappear as soon as the fun is over. Today the norm seems to be to have several kids, but all with different fathers, and create havoc as they grow up with the State supporting them. What on earth is it all coming to members, what do you remember about the 1950's? |

Climbed trees in the park, fell out, bruised yourself and got back up the bu**er. If that happened today the parks authorities would probably be sued. |

Oh..there were all kinds of fish in the rivers also. Not to mention that neighbors shared things they made (such as cookies or an pie) with other neighbors. I don' t see this now. Instead I see rules that prohibit being self-efficient and reliance on Government help....neighbors hardly talk, let alone share anything worthwhile. |

Back in the 60s, we walked over a bridge on the way to school holding our noses because the water was so polluted, it stunk. Today, the same river's a trophy fishery. Oh, and in the southern United States, you might see a sign in the window of a restaurant that said, "White only." That was before the Civil Rights movement. Racism was rampant in the 50s, I"m guessing it was over there, too. And I hate to blame our generation, but it was we who first came up with the "I don't need no stinkin piece of paper," as our reaction to marriage. The kids today didn't make up their moral deficiencies. That's how they were raised.
