The Yes/No vote will apparently happen in 2014 and the arguments will continue regardless. I don't have an opinion one way or the other, and don't really care either, but if they do vote to leave the UK then in my opinion thats it, it's final, they leave and are thereafter totally self sufficient. In other words they pay their own way for everything that currently gets handed to them from London. Wonder who will be next Wales, or Cornwall maybe? They have both made similar noises. We must be a bad bunch here in England, or is it the people running the UK that they don't like? What say you members? |

What do they have in sufficient quantities that can generate national income besides wool and tourism? Maybe they want to hijack the North Sea oil wells eh? |

My grandmother was English with perhaps a trace of Welsh. I don't think England has a bad bunch. I love English people. The English have shown the world their intelligence and bravery for a long time. Where have the greatest English-speaking authors, poets and playwrights come from? England. I must say though that the U.S. is 2nd to England in that regard. But most of us have British in us so you see - England still wins. The Scots fought vainly for freedom for centuries. But that was long ago. They should realize they don't have the resources to be on their own. It's not the Middle Ages and previous anymore. But I have noticed on a map of Scotland they are getting industrial estates built near their cities - but still it's not enough in my opinion.
