Ron, YOU'D  give those girls an hard time... just cause you've nothing much else to do I think. laughs* No wonder Anna picks on you!  Probably use them..... to sharpen up on with Anna in witty remarks..

Tut, nothing much else to do indeed, I like that (but not a lot) have to fetch the bottle myself, remove the cap myself, drink it....no wonder I grouse a little! lol

Thank you Shirley, nice to know I'm loved and you're right Anna does pick on me, especially when I don't do things her way, so she's always moaning! lol

Good day to all in POEland. I hope all are well today. No work for me this morning but a lot to do to prepare for today's 4th of July celebrations. It ought to be a good time. :-)

In honor of the day Dan and I watched a bio on Thomas Jefferson last night. We've been enamoured of old Tom as well as of John Adams and George Washington ever since we watched the HBO mini series, John Adams.

In fact a few months back we took a road trip to visit family in Aunt Miya country and along the way we stopped and visited both Mount Vernon (Washington's home) and Montecello (Jefferson's home). It was fabulous!

We haven't seen John Adams home yet but as it's local (about 30 minutes away) we will be going one weekend this summer).

I wish all POElanders who are state side a Happy (and safe) July 4th!

Diana..Thomas Jefferson's home just facinates me...I've been there twice...such as the huge windows you can lift up and it becomes and doorway...with swinging doors on each side...the place where he slept next to his study was rigged so just in the summer the sun ray's hit the sleeper at exactly 7 am...he was way ahead of his time. Ididn't get to George Washintong's home...but had it not been for an ladies group back then buying back everything from his grandson's bankruptcy..we'd know little about his personnel residence. If I were to make an comment as an historian about "America"...it is it's leaders often gave everyting they owned plus thier health for thier country's freedom to chose their way of life. Very few people really give them the credit they deserve. George Washington never wanted to be callled our nation's "father"...he wanted to be an farmer...by all rights after the Rev. War he could of been an "King" in his own right..he sai dthey thought people could govern themselves...Thomas Jefferson wanted to be know for his contribution to William and Mary college first...Benjamin Franklin an scientist. Washington never had any kids himself, but put all his step children and neices ans nephews through college and bought them homes. Hehad an freind that lived on the frontier area's of western Virginia, he had been in the FRench and idian War with...it was his home with so many kids and an commoners life he enjoyed visiting the most. He watched most of his closest British friends over here lose "everything" as they convinscated their posessions and land after the war to pay debts. He became friends with Besty Ross..having known her husband, and when he died, he gave her all his military contracts to make clothes... so she could feed her large brood of kids and not starve to death or have to remarry. In the French an Indian war, as the General lay dying from the ambush, he handed his red sash to George Washington...and told him to keepit forever..perhaps to protect him...but he did and cherished it all his life....and yet later on, understanding the ground of the Native Americans were being taken from them, he insistiuted them into the Rev. War so he could give them land military grants...so they'd have something to call them thier own before they rounded them up and made them go to reservations after his death. They greatly loved him in ways amoung the chief's and respected him. He would of never gotten involved in the Re. War if he could of made enough money to pay his taxes. He also got the the point when he said "enough is enough"...but he was an beloved man, and simple man, and an thoughful humanitariam to others. Ever so once in awhile we are allowed to know people like this to keep the world running.

Are you ready for the changes coming...Kate and William's baby..the church bells will ring through the land I understand..and Nelson Mandela..who chose peace over predjudice...as his family said..they are like hovering vultures with the news media waiting for his passing on...Egypt...let's hope this time they get it right...and find someone to give their country an new birth of freedom and productivity...and not just promise it or ignore the needs of the people .Dramatic times coming up..world changes.

I'm about all packed up and ready to go here soon...call my son and ask him to look over the animals and the house and see him tomarrow sometime..cloudy here right now, but the clouds are suppose to burn off here soon to blue skies. Have an good day everyone! Time marches on....

Neighbours Peggy, one side responsible for the garden and watering, the other side for the recycling, post and general stuff, and Milligan is in the cattery where he's been going for the past 17 years, so it's like a second home to him.

Good evening to you Richard, hope all is well with you Smile
