AWESOME!  Over here in America this is a word that is WAY overused.

My hubby and I had a laugh over your first one, John. My husband can't stand it when they say 110% or 100 and something.

Awesome, I agree Yell

The word 'absolutely' instead of just 'yes' drives me mad.

I agree with all of yours John.

This gave me a wonderful morning giggle.

Well done, John!

Excellent little 'newspaper clip' John.

I have an intense dislike of the word AWESOME. At some point in time I think it maybe did mean something but nowadays it is so heavily abused it is trivial. I had to speak to someone a few weeks ago about delivering a surf borad that had come in from Holland for him. Told him we would deliver on the agreed day 'somewhere between 10 and 12' to which he responded....'Oh that would be awesome' !!! And if that does not demean the word I don't what does.

Another extreme annoyance is football 'managers' who when being interviewed before a match say 'we need a result today'

They get a result whenever the game ends no matter what happens. If the game goes to full time whatever the score is, that is the RESULT. If the game is abandoned because team members kiss each other too much that is the result. Whatever time the referee blows his whistle to terminate the game that is the result. These guys are highly paid it seems to talk utter jibberish

I suspect that many annoying things people say are often meant kindly, and it is me being old and grumpy that makes me feel patronised. One such saying is 'Take Care', which is often said by a young shop assistant to the elderly shopper as a sort of goodbye at leaving a shop. I often wonder what I am being advised of take care of - possibly some huge horned creature is lurking outside ready to pounce on and devour unsuspecting shoppers? or some even worse fate such as becoming the victim of alien abduction? I sometimes feel like asking what it is I should take care of, but this would only seem rude and eccentric, so I grit my teeth and leave without enquiring what awful fate might await me if I fail to 'Take Care'.
