Sorry way off at the moment. I did say it might be awkward, however there is one amongst us who knows the answer hence the need for moderation.

Stick to the one with the finger on the button and think about a favourite subject to get you going.

Well a little bit of 'googling' and the clue above leads me to Ron and C S Lewis ... and the only vague clue to Gaston's is a tea room somewhere but also found a reference to 'being tutored at Gaston's by Kilpatrick' so could be an education facility of some sort

I've got Ron's eBook C. S. Lewis in Oxford A Visitors Guide, I think I'm going to have to have another read this afternoon and see if I can come up with anything. I think you might be on the right track Dave.

You were virtually there Dave, Gastons is a house in Great Bookham, Surrey, the home of a retired headmaster William T Kirkpatrick, formerly of Lurgan College. Both C.S. Lewis and his older brother were sent there for private tuition. C.S.Lewis arrived there aged 15.

Sorry John, not right but between them Ruth and Dave have cracked it, it WAS indeed a house in Bookam where C S Lewis stayed for private tuition with Kirkpatrick ( The Knock ) . I have been trying to locate to send Ron a shot but discovered that it was demolished in 1965, finding it was pretty tricky but with the help of the local history society did unearth a few details- unfortunately no pic for POE or Ron.
