Personally I don't think so, but this is an official figure the result of an investigation by Radio 2. It's numbers more than better or worse John.

There are dozens of top selling songs with two words in the title so I'll put this quizzy in the too hard basket.

I think you needed to have listened to BBC Radio 2 all day last Thursday Ken.

I'ts not a top selling song, it is famous for the same reason Yesterday is famous. The song I'm looking for officially beat yesterday into second place in a particular category.

Mud isn't a clue John. The schedules don't help either I alreay looked. I just happened to be listening to the chap who was sitting in for Steve Wright in the afternoon.

I'll see if I can come up with another clue - maybe another quizzy would have been better Smile

OK, this will give the song away, let's hope then that we can fill in the gaps.

The words were written by English poet and clergyman John Newton.

I'm going to give you this John, you've worked so hard. The song is Amazing Grace. The other part of the answer which I was looking for was that it is the most recorded song ever. There have been over 3000 versions of it made. Yesterday by Lennon & MaCartney is the second most recorded or covered song with over 2000 recorded versions in history. I can't remember the exact numbers I was driving an it wasn't the time or place to start taking notes Laughing

Over to you, you're not retiring so quickly Smile
