I'm not much of a techie when it comes to photography.  All but the last few I submitted to POE are straight from the camera.  Peter turned me on to Infranview (it's free!!).  I'm too cheap and not serious enough to spend money on any photo editing software.  But I have used Infranview to just auto adjust the colors, sharpen the image or blur a face.

As for your original question about cheating, Mick, I don't think anything you choose to do to your photos is cheating if it enhances the beauty of the image.  It's really the eye looking thru the eyepiece that creates the "art" of photography if you will.

If you want a good free photo altering download go to google and tap in Paint.netv3.35 I have used it for quite some time and it's brilliant, it also has a forum and it's own web site for help if needed. it also downloads updates while your not looking....

That was one of the others I said to try Ruth, Paint.net. There are a lot of free photo editing software out there and all have thier uses. Good luck

Thanks Peter.  That's my favorite of your avatars, apart from the cherub, that is.  Wink

Thank you girls. I have so few photos of me, I'm always behind the camera. But this one is rough, I had just climbed up St Cathrines Mount and was shattered.
