  Passes out with homesickness overload.

Oh, thank you so much Wolf, that was a wonderful article.

I had to have a giggle at the tins of Heinz Tomato Soup. I don't ever remember tins of food being displayed at church when I was a youngster, it was all home grown produce. How fun!

You know I have a good life, really good in fact, but I guess we all have at least at least one thorn in our side (and too many people have many), and mine is the constant yearning to be back in England, walking the lanes, fields, rivers, coasts. Well, I guess if that's my only heartache, then I am truly blessed, as I look around and see the suffering of others.

I just don't want to you to think that just because I am homesick I feel sorry for myself.

Do they have any Thanksgiving Day holidays in England or Australia?

England doesn't have a Thanksgiving Day like America and Canada. I think the Churches Harvest Festival is the closest thing to Thanksgiving, but we don't have a big family celebration.

It would be a good thing to start I think, though I wish it weren't so close to the Christmas celebration.

Wow, I love that link, Wolf.  Thanks for the info, Sue.  It would have been nice if more of those lovely harvest festival traditions had made it across to pond to be incorporated into Thanksgiving over here.  For those across the pond, Thanksgiving in America is now mainly associated with FOOTBALL.  Not that it's bad, but it kind of buries the emphasis of what the day's supposed to be about.

And the day after Thanksgiving then becomes the "official" beginning of the Christmas shopping season.  It's referred to as Black Friday.  lol
