This last trip we visited Drumlane Abbey in County Cavan and in the more touristy County Meath, we visited Kells, Bettystown beach, Newgrange, and Trim Castle. In Dublin we visited Trinity College and saw the book of Kells, the Guiness brewery and one sunny day we took the city bus up to Malahide castle. I hope you have a GREAT time and a wonderful anniversary.

During the entire time I was on the tour I'd think, this is where C.S. Lewis stood, or sat, or walked...lol. It was an incredible experience for me. Oh yeah, and the chap who gave the tour wasn't half bad either. |

Anthony Hinton (my g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-great grandfather; d. 1599--buried in the church of St. Andrew, Wanborough, Wilts.) owned Chilton Lodge in Chilton Park, as well as the nearby manors of Hayward, Earlscott (aka Earlscourt) and Eddington. These passed to his son Sir Thomas Hinton (my g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-great grandfather; d. 1635). Chilton Foliat is a pretty little village with a very nice church (St. Mary) built of flint, ashlar and rubble stone. Thanks for the photo, Paul. Edited by: Rob Faleer at:15th October 2009 17:17 |
