Ruth if we can just go back to the cleaning issue of the thread.

Hi Dave,

Yes lets keep this about Lens cleaning...............

Hopefully POE might start a new Topic and answer the other question raised on here.

 Cheers,

Patrick.

Yes my fault, I start a thread then go off topic.

Answers are needed though.

A lens can cost hundreds or thousands of pounds.  You then stick on some £10 filter.  You create another glass / air surface and all the problems that will come................

Well worth the money if you buy a good one, a bit more that £10's worth Daniel. Got a feeling we know you under a different name ???

It is a Tiffin 77mm UV Protector Filter.........

Professionals use them to protect their lenses. Laughing

Finally, if you want the very best possible optical performance for a certain shot, you can always remove the filter. Compared to lenses, even the most expensive filter is cheap.

Ah professionals use them, well that is good to know.  Makes you wonder why some firms bother to build cameras without an anti aliasing filter now.

Anti ailising filters sit between the sensor and the subject, so does a lens filter.......... its late..........think about the light path
