I was sad to hear that your monitor had died.They are expensive arn't they? In the UK there is an act regulating the import of exotic animals and reptiles and you have to have a special licence.

Have you considered another form of pet? Lizards are not the friendliest of creatures. I remember trying to put one in the cab of my friend's military Land Rover, so he could have some company whilst driving through a jungle track in  the Far East. As I picked it up, it turned around and bit my finger!

How about a pooch or a cat?
